9-day itinerary

1. Arrival - Overnight on the Italian Riviera

2. Côte d’Azur with Nice – hotel change (approx. 450 km) - Overnight in the Montpellier/Narbonne area
The Côte d’Azur  stretches along France’s sun-drenched Mediterranean coast, with destinations that include the Principality of Monaco, known for its luxury casinos and the Prince’s Palace; Cannes, famed for its international film festival and upscale promenade; and Nice, with its elegant Promenade des Anglais, vibrant old town, and colorful markets. After a guided city tour of Nice, the route continues through Provence, passing vineyards, olive groves, and picturesque villages, before reaching the Montpellier/Narbonne area for the night.

3. UNESCO World Heritage Site: Medieval Carcassonne (approx. 300 km) - Overnight in Andorra
Carcassonne is one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval fortresses. Its double-walled ramparts, 52 towers, and winding cobbled streets illustrate centuries of defensive architecture. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, the city also features historic churches, narrow alleys, and artisan shops that reflect medieval life. The journey continues into the mountains of Andorra, a tiny principality renowned for dramatic landscapes and historic villages.

4. Andorra Panoramic and capital Andorra La Vella (approx. 60 km) - Overnight in Andorra
The area known as the “Garden of Andorra” combines alpine valleys, soaring peaks, and traditional villages. The scenic drive offers panoramic views of the Pyrenees, highlighting terraced farms, Romanesque churches, and stone bridges. In the afternoon, a guided tour of Andorra La Vella, Europe’s highest capital city, presents its charming old town, historic squares, and bustling commercial streets, set against the dramatic mountain backdrop.

5. Barcelona and overnight ferry to Sardinia (approx. 275 km) - Night ferry Barcelona – Porto Torres
Barcelona, the Catalan capital, is celebrated for its Gothic architecture, vibrant culture, and culinary scene. The city center  includes Plaza Catalunya and the lively La Rambla promenade. The Boqueria Market displays fresh local produce, seafood, and regional specialties. The Gothic and Born neighborhoods feature the Barcelona Cathedral and the Catedral del Mar, a 14th-century church with a history that inspired literature and television adaptations. The day concludes with boarding the overnight ferry to Sardinia.

6. From Alghero to the Emerald Coast (approx. 200 km) - Overnight in the Santa Teresa area
Arrival in Porto Torres leads to Alghero, a Catalan-influenced town famous for its coral craftsmanship, medieval walls, and cobblestone streets. The old town includes the Cathedral of Santa Maria and the Gothic-Catalan Church of San Francesco. The journey continues along the Emerald Coast, where secluded coves, turquoise waters, golden sands, and rugged granite formations create a striking coastal landscape. Dinner and overnight accommodation are in the Santa Teresa area.

7. Corsica (approx. 80 km) - Overnight in the Santa Teresa area
The ferry crossing reaches Bonifacio, Corsica’s dramatic cliff-top town overlooking the Mediterranean. The upper town’s narrow alleys reveal panoramic views of historic houses, natural harbors, and the Bouches de Bonifacio, the strait separating Corsica from Sardinia. Bonifacio’s limestone cliffs, ancient citadel, and maritime heritage make it one of the region’s most photogenic and historically significant towns. Return by ferry to Sardinia completes the visit.

8. The Emerald Coast and overnight ferry to Livorno (approx. 75 km) - Night ferry Olbia/Golfo Aranci – Livorno
The Costa Smeralda  is famed for its sparkling waters, hidden beaches, and striking granite landscapes. Porto Cervo, the area’s centerpiece, blends luxury resorts with charming piazzas and vibrant nightlife. Nearby, the Bear Rock rises dramatically from the sea, a natural landmark with spectacular coastal views. The day concludes with the overnight ferry back to Livorno, providing final views of Sardinia’s scenic coastline.
