3 The Itria Valley: Alberobello and Locorotondo
Panoramic route along the Apulian Aqueduct, an engineering masterpiece from the early 20th century, through the landscapes of the Itria Valley, vineyards, centuries-old oak and olive trees, trulli and ancient mills.A stroll through the picturesque village of Locorotondo, with its romantic centre of sunlit white stones, is followed by a visit to Alberobello, famous for its trulli - traditional conical-roofed stone houses -along plastered alleys and fairytale streets. The experience concludes with a tasting of the prized “Locorotondo DOC” white wine at a local winery, a celebrated specialty of the region.
