• From the medieval village of Castelmola, perched precariously on the mountain-
top above Taormina, we hike through the unspoiled Mediterranean scrub with
breath-taking views from the Straits of Messina to Syracuse and Mount Etna, all of
which are framed by the captivating turquoise sea
• In the afternoon visit chic Taormina for a taste of Sicilian dolce vita

4 Valley of the Temples and Kolymbetra Gardens
• Drive along the southern coast to the archaeological site of the Valley of the Tem-

open-air museum surrounded by the scent of almonds and citrus trees

5 Zingaro Nature Reserve and Scopello
• Hike along narrow paths through the characteristic dwarf palm groves and past
wonderful bathing bays in the Zingaro Nature Reserve, Sicily’s first protected area
• In the afternoon discover the narrow streets of the pretty seaside hamlet of
Scopello, and taste the local savoury speciality, pane cunzato

6 Monte Cofano, Erice and Marsala Wine
• Nature hike on majestic Monte Cofano, which rises up impressively 659 m from
the sea and is home to beautiful variegated vegetation
• The next highlight is Erice, located 750m above Trapani, a small jewel surrounded
by a mighty medieval wall and with breath-taking views of the Trapani Salt Flats
and the Egadi Islands below
• Tasting of traditional almond biscuits and Marsala wine in an old fashioned pastry shop
