Day 1: Transfer from the Airport in Florence to your hotel in Chianti area

Day 2: Certaldo and San Gimignano – the Medieval Manhattan
Our circuit today takes us through the typical hilly countryside of Tuscany with its cypresses, vineyards, country houses, castles and medieval villages. Our first stop is San Gimignano. We will take a walk through its historic centre, and will follow it with a relaxing break in one of Italy‘s best ice-cream parlours, the Gelateria Dondoli. Our tour will continue on to Certaldo, forever associated with the Italian writer Boccaccio , who used it as a setting for his masterpiece Decamerone. The upper town where the centre is located can be reached via cable car from the lower town.

Day 3: Discovering the Chianti hills
Today we will discover the best kept secrets of the Chianti region. Our trip will take us through vineyards, past cypresses and hidden „Borghi“ until we reach Castellina, one of the five jewels belonging to Chianti area. We go on to Ponzano, where we will have light lunch at the famous Cecchini’s butcher’s shop. The tour continues to the villages of Mercatale and Greve. Mercatale offers a wonderful panoramic view of Val di Pesa and Val die Greve, whilst Greve itself is probably the best-known place in whole of the Chianti region.

Day 4: Monteriggioni and Siena
Our last trip in the beautiful Chianti region will take us to Monteriggioni, a little village perched on a hill, surrounded by a wall, which was made famous in Dante‘s Divine Comedy. After a stroll and a cappuccino we will cycle on to Siena, one of the most beautiful towns in the world. A charming maze of medieval streets surrounds the famous shell-shaped main square of Piazza del Campo. The way back takes us through Radda in Chianti. Here we will enjoy a wine tasting before going back to the hotel.

Day 5: Transfer to the Versilia coast and stop in Florence
Today we rest from challenges of the previous days and visit Florence.
Florence’s cathedral dominates the skyline and together with the Bell Tower and the Baptistery forms one of the most magnificent art masterpieces in the world. The austerity and beauty of this city, and the pride and determination of the Florentine artists are displayed in a unique way in the Palazzo Vecchio. With a local English-speaking guide we will discover the major sites before we have some free time to admire the jewelry stores on the Ponte Vecchio or to enjoy an espresso coffee.

Day 6: Lucca and Pisa
The today excursion will take us to discover the famous art city of Lucca and birthplace of the great composer Giacomo Puccini. On a walk through the old-town we will be able to admire the many churches, such as the Cathedral of San Martino and San Frediano. After tasting the famous local cookies, Buccellato, we will cycle along the circular city-walls and from here along the River Serchio to the lovely Lake Massaciuccoli, where Giacomo Puccini used to hunt ducks. In the afternoon we reach Pisa. Free time to visit the Cathedral, the Leaning Tower, the Baptistery and the Bell Tower. We go back to the hotel passing along Torre del Lago and Viareggio, the queen of the Versilia coast.

Day 7: Marble jewel Carrara and Montemarcello
The last tour is also the most challenging. Through the soft hills of Carrara, where we can visit the interesting Marble Museum, we cycle through the Natural Park of Montemarcello until we reach the top of this amazing climb. We will be well rewarded from the beautiful views onto the Gulf of Lerici and Portovenere and from the exclusive atmosphere of a place still unspoiled from the touristic mass.
