Spring on Lake Maggiore - Marvel at Europe's most diversified range of Camellias

Camellia Festival in Locarno from March 28 to April 1, 2017

Visit a Camelia nursery and the Camelia festival and tour the Borromean islands.

Day 1: Arrive on Lake Maggiore
Arrival at Milan Airport and transfer to the hotel in Stresa. Check-in, welcome drink at
the hotel and rest of day at leisure.

Day 2: Borromean Island
Directly opposite Stresa, the three stunning islands lie in a wide gulf surrounded
by mountains. In the morning we will board the boat that takes us to Isola Bella.
Admire the Baroque palace and beautiful garden (entrance fees included) before
we continue to Isola dei Pescatori and its picturesque fishing village, where we
will enjoy a delicious lunch and beautiful views on Stresa and the western coastline
of the lake. In the afternoon we will make our way to Isola Madre by boat. The
largest of the island boasts an impressive and well-preserved park, an enchanting
place to be discovered.

Day 3: Milan with city guide
Today’s excursion takes us to Italy’s capital of chic, Milan. Our English-speaking guide will introduce you to the city‘s iconic sights during a 3-hour tour, including the Duomo, the world renowned Opera House La Scala and the Vittorio Emanuele II Gallery. The afternoon is free to do as you please.

Day 4: Ascona and Locarno with visit of the Camellia Festival in Locarno

Marvellous Switzerland will be our destination today. Situated on the Swiss, northern
side of the lake, the resort towns of Locarno and Ascona nevertheless charm
their visitors with an Italian and Mediterranean atmosphere, featuring nice squares
and little delightful cafés. The Locarno Camellia Festival is the most important
event of its kind in Europe. Set in the magnificent Camellia Park, the exhibition displays over 300 types of this pretty flower, beautifully arranged by experienced
gardeners. The event is one of the oldest presentations of Camellias in the region,
which have been cultivated here for over 150 years.

Day 5: Departure
Transfer to the Milan Airport and departure.
