Venice - Verona - Lake Garda Crema & Cremona - Bergamo – Milan

Day 1: Arrival in Venice
Upon arrival at Marco Polo Airport we transfer by boat to our hotel, the only way to arrive in Venice. Check-in and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Venice
In the morning we get an introduction to Venice on a guided walking tour exploring the major city sights including St. Mark’s Square and the Basilica, the Doge’s Palace, the Grand Canal and the Rialto Bridge. We will then spend the afternoon discovering Venice off the beaten track, discovering places most tourists miss, as we take part in a “Bacaro tour”, an informal food and drink tour that takes in a range of traditional Venetian Osteria.

Day 3: Venice - Verona – Valeggio sul Mincio with cooking class - Lake Garda
We bid farewell to Venice with a boat transfer to Tronchetto, where we board our private motor coach to drive us Verona. Our tour leader will take us to Piazza Bra, where we will admire the “Arena”, its Roman amphitheater, and the luxurious shopping street of Via Mazzini before continuing on to the other beautiful parts of the historical center.
After some free time to explore, we will drive on to the little village of Valeggio Sul Mincio in the afternoon, where we will discover traditional Tortellini through a great cookery class followed by your self-made dinner. Here we will experience the spirit of convivial Italian meals as seen at Elio’s place.
We will then continue to the southern shores of Lake Garda.

Day 4: Lake Garda: Sirmione – the Roman “Grotte di Catullo” Boat ride to private Garda Island
We embark today on a journey of discovery by motor coach and boat taking in the unique landscape of Lake Garda, Italy’s largest lake.
We will visit the picturesque village of Sirmione, to see where Oliver and Elio followed Elio’s father to find the archeological piece.
Our visit continues to the end of the Sirmione peninsula to see the “Grotte di Catullo” Roman villa. We then take a boat to the private island of Borghese Cavazza, popularly known as “Garda Island” where we will be welcomed by the villa owner.
Continuing on by boat, we then cross over to the western shores of the lake to reach the town of Salò. After a nice stroll around the town, we will be driven to the Agriturismo Redaelli de Zinis for a typical dinner accompanied by local wines of the region.

Day 5: Cremona and Crema: the Italian countryside
Our first stop of the day will be Cremona, the city of Stradivarius. We will visit the city center with its Cathedral and Baptistery. Afterwards we will be welcomed by a violin maker who will introduce us to the magical world of Stradivarius, whose sounds accompanied the lives of the movie characters.
Lunch will be taken in a typical Trattoria in Cremona. After lunch we will be taken on a tour of Elio’s haunts. We will see the village of Crema with its quaint alleyways where they kiss the first time, and the Cafeteria where Oliver plays cards with the local elderly folk. We will also see the countryside where the boys spend time on their bikes, the Square where they board the coach to Bergamo, and last but not least, the important scenes of Elio’s family as depicted in the movie. We continue on to Milan for check-in at our hotel in the city center.

Day 6: Bergamo: Elio and Oliver's city of love
This morning we will wander around the old town of Bergamo, the city where the guys got drunk and lost and where their love eventually ignited.
We will take the funicular to reach the upper part of the city which is surrounded by medieval walls. We will walk to Piazza Vecchia, where the Cathedral, Baptistery, Church of Santa Maria Maggiore with Colleoni Chapel and the Palazzo della Regione present a unique ensemble.
Allow yourself to be beguiled by the picturesque little streets and feel the same emotions that overwhelmed the two protagonists.

Day 7: Milan: financial, design and shopping heart of Italy
Enjoy a guided walking tour of Milan’s main sights including the world-famous “La Scala” Opera House, the elegant Vittorio Emanuele II shopping gallery and the imposing gothic Cathedral, topped by thousands of statues and pinnacles.
The afternoon is yours to explore the great city of Milan.

Transfer from the hotel in Milan to Milan Airport and departure.
