Today trail leads us along some of the most beautiful beaches of the Costa Smeralda, where the world´s richest people meet each summer.  The view over the famous coastline and the white sandy beaches are quite outstanding. This is considered to be one of the most scenic beach trails to be found in Sardinia. Our circular hike leads over sandy narrow paths. Our destination is the lovely isolated Bay of Cala Napolitana, which conveys the feeling of a real desert island with its Caribbean colours After free time to soak up the beauty of this peaceful spot, we return to the relative hustle and bustle of the pretty fishing village of La Maddalena before returning by boat to Palau.

Day 4: A French detour to rugged Corsica

In Santa Teresa di Gallura we embark on our ferry bound for Bonifacio, the oldest town in Corsica, set in a striking position on the limestone cliffs. Upon arrival we walk to the lovely medieval upper town and admire the Gothic and Romanesque churches and tall houses. Later in the morning, we hike along the cliffs on the coast enjoying breath-taking views. Late in the afternoon, we return to Santa Teresa by ferry
Effective walking time: 2 hours
Vertical height difference: negligible
Degree of difficulty: easy

Day 5: Day at leisure
- Take a relaxing boat round trip of the La Maddalena Archipelago to explore in depth the many small hidden bays not accessible on our hike.

Day 6: Isola Rossa and Castelsardo
- We hike from the Saracen’s Tower in a small fishing village on the north coast following stony tracks to Cape Li Canneddi
- White waves, deep blue sea and bright red granite stones accompany us on our way past many hidden bays and beaches.
- Visit Castelsardo after a tasting of the Sardinian myrtle liqueur, Mirto Rosso.
Our hike today starts at the Saracen’s Tower in Isola Rossa, a small fishing village on the north coast, and takes us along rocky paths to Canneddi Cape. The strong contrast between bright red porphyry rocks and deep blue sea is quite stunning.
We hike back to Isola Rossa, and in the afternoon our coach takes us to the pretty medieval village of Castelsardo, set on a large rocky promontory that juts into the Mediterranean. Here we take a stroll to admire the castle and ramparts of the Old Town before stopping to sample a traditional Sardinian liqueur, mirto rosso, which is obtained from the myrtle  plant.

Today a scenic highlight awaits us as we hike amongst enormous blocks of granite. Visitors often try to detect human or animal shapes carved by the elements in the course of millenia in these rocks
Our impressive circular hike takes us through the hidden Valle della Luna to the active lighthouse of Capo Testa, set on a promontory which is the northernmost point of Sardinia
If the visibility is good, we should get to see as far as the neighbouring island of Corsica.
