Wed, 22 July: Arrival in Montecatini
Thu, 23 July: Florence
After breakfast reach the Montecatini rail station on foot and take the local train to Florence: the capital of Tuscany. This art and cultural metropolis is a “must” for all travellers to Tuscany. The Cathedral of Florence dominates the cityscape and together with its Campanile and baptistery forms one of the most magnificent works of architectural art on earth. Visit the most famous sights of the historic district on a guided city tour (entrance tickets can be procured, upon request). Following the tour enjoy some free time to admire the jewellery shops on the Ponte Vecchio or sip an espresso before returning to the hotel.
Fri, 24 July: The Andrea Bocelli event
Morning at leisure and breakfast at the hotel! Leave Montecatini in the afternoon for the Tuscan countryside, where a historic estate awaits you to sample an extensive range of local products. The tasting will fuel you with the right energy to then enjoy the main event: the Andrea Bocelli performance at the Theater of Silence. The innovative project, established in 2006, unites art and culture with its open-air amphitheatre in the heart of the Tuscan hills, near Bocelli’s hometown of Lajatico. The theatre draws its name from the fact that it hosts just one concert each summer, before falling silent for the rest of the year. The event enables the extraordinary opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Tuscan countryside while listening to Bocelli’s voice live. Please note that guests must do a couple of kilometres walking to reach the stage and that they will return to their hotels very late, following the event.
Sat, 25 July: Cooking class near Lucca
Head to the hills around Lucca for a cooking class and lunch at a traditional farmhouse. The interactive experience and wholesome meal enjoyed in an area surrounded by vineyards and olive groves will surely make for an unforgettable Tuscan memory.
Sun, 26 July: Pisa & Pietrasanta
After breakfast take the private coach to Pisa. The city’s Piazza del Duomo is better known as the “Prato dei Miracoli”, an apt name for the grassy field on which one of the world’s most iconic and miraculous buildings stands. Or…leans. Do a two-hour walking tour around the area and then enjoy some free time in the shadow of the Leaning Tower, where an urban expanse lays ready to accommodate a little lunching, shopping and further site-seeing. (Entrances tickets to the Duomo Complex can be organized upon request.) In the afternoon be whisked to the coast and enjoy the sea-salty breeze in Pietrasanta. The town at the foothills of the Apuan Alps hosted artists like Michelangelo who revelled in the lovely atmosphere and easy access to the precious local marble. Return by private coach to the hotel in the late afternoon.
