ITINERARY

Day 1 | Arrival
Arrive at your hotel and enjoy dinner.

Day 2 | Sight-seeing in the gorgeous Dolomites
Today we are off to discover the spectacular sights and colours of the autumnal foliage of the Brenta Dolomites. Autumn is a magical season to visit this area: even the sun shines with a special light as it says goodbye to the long hot summer and awaits the snowy winter. We will take in the red and yellow leaves falling in the valleys and the intense blue sky and dramatic mountain peaks which may already be dusted in snow in the backdrop. Our drive will take us by the Nardis Waterfall, whose cool waters cascade down 130 metres, before continuing on to one of Italy’s top ski resorts, Madonna di Campiglio, set at 1,550 metres above sea level in a stunning valley between the Brenta Dolomites and the glaciers of Adamello and Presanella. We will have free time for a stroll here and, after a day of picturesque sightseeing, we will return to the hotel where dinner awaits us.

Day 3 | Experience an amazing wine tasting in Merano
After breakfast we head off towards Bolzano and the start of the Wine Road. This is a unique area where Germanic and Latin cultures meet, and Austrian tradition merges with the Italian Dolce Vita. Bolzano is also home to Oetzi, the Iceman who lived in the European Alps more than 5,200 years ago – his naturally mummified remains were discoverd by German hikers in 1991 and are on show at the town’s Archeological Museum. Our Wine Road departs from Bolzano towards the spa town of Merano. This region is famous for its endless vineyards and fruit orchards, ancient villages full of atmosphere, and impressive forts and castles. We stop en-route for a tasting of regional wine and local delicacies at a wine producer’s and discover the secrets of the wine production is this area. After enjoying our scenic day with colourful sights, we return to the hotel for dinner.

Day 4 | An unforgettable excursion to Castle Thun and the apple orchards
This morning we will take a leisurely drive along the picturesque Val di Non with its countless apple orchards. This valley is centred around the huge Lago di Santa Giustina, a manmade lake created by a dam which helps to keep this agricultural valley irrigated. The Val di Non region is home to Italy’s largest number of castles, a staggering 28 in a very small geographic area. Many of these castles are privately owned, others are open to the public, and all can be easily admired from the roadside. The highlight of our day is a visit to the breath-taking Thun Castle, which was built in the 13th century and looms on a hilltop overlooking the valley. We will be able to admire perfectly preserved period furniture as well as works of art, weapons and porcelain inside the castle. On our return to the hotel we will make a stop to enjoy a fresh apple juice on a visit to a traditional local farm. A 4-course dinner with typical regional dishes awaits us at the hotel this evening.

Day 5 | Day at leisure paired with a traditional Törggelen dinner.
Today we are free to unwind or sightsee on our own or maybe take a stroll in the surrounding countryside. After a relaxing day at leisure, we will enjoy a Törggelen dinner on our last evening at the hotel. This traditional Tyrolean meal is based on local specialities such as barley soup, pork with sauerkraut and lucanica (local sausage), speck and cold cuts with chestnuts, and apple strudel accompanied by a glass of grape must. A perfect way to wind off our trip. Buon appetito!
