A MAGICAL EVENING OF GREAT MUSIC
23 July - Arrival in Montecatini
24 July - Pisa & Pietrasanta
Leave Montecatini after breakfast and let yourself be fascinated in Pisa by the charm of an
antique, former sea republic. You will start the tour in the Piazza dei Miracoli, with its impressive Cathedral, the Baptistery and, of course, the world-famous Leaning Tower of Pisa (entrance optional). After time to have lunch on your own, you will reach the coast and enjoy the Summer breeze in Pietrasanta, at the foothills of the Apuan Alps. The town has been under the patronage of artists like Michelangelo, due to its distinctive connection to the use of local marble.
25 July - Andrea Bocelli Event
Morning at leisure, have a good breakfast at the hotel, this will be a long day! Leave Montecatini in the afternoon to reach the Tuscan countryside, where a typical estate awaits you to sample an extensive range of local products. You will then have the right energy to attend tonight’s event, powered by the world famous Andrea Bocelli. The tenor opens his hometown’s doors for a unique night in his Theater of Silence: an innovative project born in 2006, uniting art, culture and territory by the construction of an open air amphitheatre in the heart of the Tuscan hills, near Lajatico. The theatre hosts just one concert by Bocelli every summer, and then remains silent for the rest of the year (hence the name Teatro del Silenzio - Theatre of Silence). Your night is certainly an extraordinary way to enjoy the beauty of the Tuscan countryside, surrounded by enchanting hills while listening to Bocelli’s music and voice. The return to the hotel will be in the early hours.
26 July - Lucca & cooking class
Breakfast at the hotel and late morning meeting in Lucca’s outskirts to learn a few tricks of the Italian cuisine: this morning you will discover how some typical delights are prepared
and enjoy eating a wholesome meal surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. On a full
stomach you will then head to Lucca for an interesting guided tour: hidden behind imposing
Renaissance walls, the town still follows the layout set by the former Roman colony founded
in 180 BC. See the Duomo of San Martino, which dates back to the 6th century or relax in one of the cafés in Piazza dell’Anfiteatro.
27 July - Florence
After breakfast reach the Montecatini rail station and take the local train to Florence: the
capital of Tuscany. This art and cultural metropolis is a must for all travellers to Tuscany.
The Cathedral of Florence dominates the cityscape and together with the Campanile and
the baptistery forms one of the most magnificent works of art that can be admired on this
earth. The austerity and beauty of the city, the pride and the constancy of the Florentines is
manifested in a unique way in the Palazzo Vecchio. You will visit the interesting sights of the
historic district on a guided city tour. Afterwards there will be time to admire the jewellery
shops on the Ponte Vecchio or to enjoy an Italian espresso.

In 2006 the famous Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli initiated an innovative project blending art, culture and nature with the construction of an open air Amphitheatre in the heart of the Tuscan hills near Lajatico, his hometown near Volterra.
The theatre hosts a single event by Bocelli each summer, before reverting back to its silent form for the rest of the year (giving rise to the name Teatro del Silenzio – the Theatre of Silence). A sculpture in the form of a human face is located in the centre of the structure. Designed by the Polish sculptor Igor Mitoraj for the performance of the opera Manon Lescaut, it was gifted to the theatre foundation afterwards.
The stage and audience seating areas are completely dismantled when not in use for the Festival and the theatre reverts to its natural silent state, becoming an artificial lake once more.
Bocelli’s event is an extraordinary way to enjoy the beauty of the Tuscan countryside, amidst enchanting hills and tall cypress trees, whilst being serenaded by the music and his incredible voice.
