ITINERARY

1 Arrival

• Arrive on the Versilian Coast (Tuscany)

2 Embarkation for crossing to Corsica (approx.5 hours) and Cap Corse

• Upon disembarkation we will continue on a spectacular drive offering incredible views on our way to Cap Corse
• On the way we will sample the local Cap Corse liquor before returning to our hotel located near Bastia for our overnight accommodation

3 Bonifacio and ferry crossing to Sardinia (approx. 1 hour)

• After breakfast we depart to follow the eastern coast road down to Bonifacio where we will have some free time to explore the charming old town before we embark on our second but much shorter 50 minute crossing to Santa Teresa, Sardinia.
• Once back in Italian territory it is a short transfer to your
  hotel for dinner and overnight.

4 Costa Smeralda and the Bear Rock of Palau

• Today will be a memorable day, as we explore the stunning Costa Smeralda.
• Gorgeous white sandy beaches lapped by turquoise waters are more reminiscent of
  the Caribbean. After a stop at the Church of Stella Maris we continue on to the Bear
  Rock of Palau which has been a celebrated point of orientation for seafarers since
  Greek times, where you will enjoy the fabulous view.

5 Orgosolo with shepherd’s meal followed by overnight ferry to Sicily

• We pass the provincial capital of Nuoro as we traverse the island before paying a visit to the former bandit stronghold of Orgosolo, famous too for its quirky anti-authoritarian street murals.
• We will then enjoy a cosy shepherd’s meal before making our way of Cagliari for embarkation in the evening for our overnight ferry to Sicily.

6 Monreale and Palermo

• We disembark in Palermo early in the morning. To begin with, we will visit the
  famous Cathedral of Monreale, before spending more time to explore Palermo, the
  capital of Sicily in greater depth, whose Old Town in particular is exceptional.

7 Free day to unwind and explore your surroundings or take an optional excursion to Cefalù (Prices available on request)

8 Erice and night ferry to Naples

• We head west to discover the unforgettable medieval hilltop town of Erice, which enjoys a naturally fortified position above Trapani. Here narrow alleyways, ancient
  stone archways and flower bedecked courtyards greet the visitor.
• We continue on inland to the town of Segesta where we will see a Doric Temple before returning back to Palermo in time for embarkation for the night ferry to Naples.

9 Panoramic orientation tour of Naples, ferry to Ischia and tour of the island

• After disembarkation in Naples we undertake a short panoramic orientation tour of Naples highlighting the main areas of this fascinating city.
• We then make our way across the Gulf of Naples on a short 75 minute sailing to Ischia, the largest of the islands in the Gulf of Naples. A tour around the island, famed for its thermal water sources, ends at your hotel.

10 Free time to unwind or take an optional excursion to nearby Capri (price on request)

11 Return ferry to Naples, onward to Piombino and ferry to Elba

• We return back to Naples by ferry for our onward journey north to Piombino. Here we embark on another ferry for the short 45 minute sailing to the Isle of Elba.
• The views even as you disembark at the Port of Portoferraio are spectacular as we see a string of brightly coloured buildings overlooking the sea on a small horseshoe shaped bay.

12 On the trail of Napoleon

• Today we embark on a full day tour of the island where in addition to the many beautiful sights we will also follow in the footsteps of Napoleon Bonaparte who was
  banished to live in exile on Elba after defeat at the Battle of Waterloo.

13 Ferry crossing to the mainland and onward journey home
